About PermadomeAbout Dr. Jarle LillemoenDr. Lillemoen was born in Norway. He moved to Texas at the age of 13, in 1985. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Biochemical and Biophysical Sciences at the University of Houston in 1993, and he completed his Ph.D. dissertation at the University of Texas at Austin in 1999. He then worked as a research scientist in the laboratory of Dr. Kenneth. A. Johnson for 5 years. Following that, he worked for an online learning company, Sapling Learning in Austin, TX. Dr. Lillemoen founded Permadome in September of 2008. Prior to this, he spent many years of studying self-sustaining culture and energy independence, the things that make life good. As he grew from a youth and entered adult life, the need to start something tangible with the information became painfully apparent. So Jarle went to the Monolithic Dome Institute in Italy, TX, and took their Monolithic Dome workshop. It was some of the best money he ever spent. At the workshop he learned how to build the Monolithic dome. That was in October 2007. Then he acquired the equipment needed to do shotcrete (sprayed concrete) work, and inflate the airforms that make the monolithic dome construction process so unique and efficient. Since then, he has built at least three monolithic domes, and wants to keep building many more. Mission of Permadome:To build attractive, functional, efficient and long-lasting reinforced concrete structures that will help in the overarching goal, which is the establishment of self-sustaining culture. And to do it for a good price. Links: |
